My Life on the Mississippi
December
2024
Ah, December, the time of cold and snow and hope and renewal, of faith and goodwill, and reminders of the resilience of the human spirit.
In the yard, as always, are the turkeys
And the squirrels
And the birds
Mostly the weather was unpredictable, going from below zero to the 40s above zero and sometimes leaving frosted trees.
And the river going from open water to iced over to open again.
We finally got some snow for Christmas, allowing us to have a traditional Christmas with family, and snow and the Christmas tree.
But shortly after that we got temperatures in the 40s with the snow disappearing and the ice once again leaving the river
We must remember that December is a season when the darkness ends, and the light begins to reemerge. Hope springs eternal!
And, as always, there is the river.
