March 2024
What a strange month, it began as unseasonably fall-like weather, warm with a few cold days
and now a lot of snow.
But still, lots of wildlife, we even saw a bunch of small white ducks on the river one day.
And the geese are back
There always seem to be turkeys, with the toms getting ready for spring.
Even one in a tree outside our window.
And always birds; woodpeckers, doves nuthatches, and all the regulars.
Jays
Crows
Busy feeder with some of the finches beginning to turn.
A few dark-eyed juncos are here again.
As always there are squirrels and chipmunks.
Here is a red squirrel.
And the chipmunks are out again.
Strange spring, strange winter. The river is still open even though winter seems to have finally come.
We can only wait to see what climate change has in store for us as spring and summer come.
We have heard that there is a potential oak disease coming and us with a yard full of oak. Nature is no longer so friendly
But it is the season of easter, spring, equinox, change of season, hope and the promise of rebirth.
We can only sit by the fire and ponder what will be aborning.
Waiting for the snow to melt.
Lovely article , loved your pictures. It looks like Spring and Winter are one this year. Happy Easter.
